Cary Clack shares his heart and words of wisdom. Cary received his B.A. in Political Science from St. Mary’s University. In the 1990’s he was a reporter, columnist and member of the Editorial Board at the San Antonio Express-News. He left the paper to join Joaquin Castro's first congressional campaign, later serving as Rep. Castro's district director. He then worked in Mayor Ivy Taylor's office as communications director and spent four years with Merced Housing Texas. He also spent summers teaching nonviolence workshops in Atlanta at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolence Social Change. In 2017 he was inducted into the Texas Institute of Letters and is currently editing what will be the first anthology of Black Texas writers. The book will be published as part of the Wittliff Collections' book series through Texas A&M University Press. In December 2019 he returned to the San Antonio Express News as a columnist and member of the Editorial Board.
Special music by Leeann Atherton. Leeann is a somewhat hidden treasure in Austin. She can walk a lot of different avenues, from soul to rock to country to blues, and come out shining bright wherever she is. Her recent album is a stunner, includes some of the best musicians who call anywhere home, and needs to be heard.
