HELP SUPPORT INNER CITY DEVELOPMENT

“HUNGER IS NOT A THANKSGIVING ISSUE: IT IS AN ISSUE 365 DAYS PER YEAR” ICD begins its Thanksgiving 365 this week. This project is an effort to raise all the money it takes to supply their Emergency Food Pantry with food for 365 days. They serve over 70,000 meals per year to people in crisis, serving the poorest area of Bexar County. They are asking for direct donations of any amount and they are looking for 30 people to raise $1,000 each and to fast until they raise that amount. Can you be one of those 30? If so, call them at 224-7239. Students are asked to collect rise, beans and canned goods. Checks can be made out to Inner City Development, 1300 Chihuahua St., SATX 78207

We will also support their CHRISTMAS TOY SALE, which is an attempt to deal with the issue of trying to maintain dignity of families on limited income in an effort to help them get toys for their children at Christmas at a price that is affordable. Many times families will spend money to provide something special at Christmas and then need help to pay bills and buy food in January. Inner City collects new toys (traditional and non-violent) for a sale. The toys are prices at 10% of what they would cost in the store. The toy sale usually serves about 1400 children and the money raised goes back into emergency services. If you are interested in helping, please call 224-7239. Bring toys to Sunday Circle on November 28 and December 5.

The show will hang all month long in September, where it will be visible inside the lobby of the Bijou Theatre during normal operating hours, 11:00am - 10:00pm. It's free inside the lobby, so go early to get an advance viewing of the show, and place your silent auction bid for the altar of your choice!

The culminating gala reception will take place on Thursday the 30th, and will feature light hors d'oeuvres, final bidding, silent auction closing and screening of the film "Young @ Heart", a funny and moving testament to friendship and creativity.
