The Celebration Circle is made possible by a large group of dedicated people, who give their time, energy, and love to help create and sustain our community. If you're interested in volunteering, we always have a number of ways you can get involved. Sunday Gathering Every Sunday, it takes at least 10 people to fill the variety of roles we have available, which you can sign up for on Sundays. These are: Altar Every week, our altar is created by a different artist or Circle member as their personal offering of sacred beauty. If you'd like to create an altar, you can bring flowers, candles, art, statues, cloth, and/or your sacred or special objects--whatever you'd like. Arrive at 10:00 am. Set-Up Set-up is one of our most important jobs. You get a behind-the-scenes look at how Circle is created as you put out tables, chairs, and the altar, and help where needed before the service. This job does require that you be physically able to lift and move said objects. Must arrive punctually at 10:00 am. Union Bread Each week, a different volunteer brings a loaf of bread to share with the community, which is passed around during the service. Arrive at 10:45 to hand it off to the hospitality folks. Greeter Isn't it nice when someone says hello to you at the door, especially if you're new? Our greeter is in charge of putting on a shiny smile and welcoming folks as they come in to the Circle, as well as keeping a head count for our records. Arrive at 10:30. Hospitality This is a big job, but it's one that makes such a difference to folks. The hospitality people/person brew coffee, set out tea and snacks, and make sure there's always something warm or tasty available before and after Circle. There's just one space to sign-up, but couples and families have seemed to particularly enjoy doing this volunteer job together. Arrive at 10:00 am. Usher We have two ushers every Sunday to hand out programs, and help us pass the Union Bread and love offering baskets. If you'd like to be involved with the service itself in some way, this is a great job for that. Arrive at 10:30 am. Lobby Shop Despite the fact that you do have to be good with numbers (it's simple math, though!), the person running the lobby shop (a single table of Circle products) is in a key position to meet and welcome new folks. Or, if you're new yourself, you get the chance to meet other long-time Circle members, as folks tend to congregate around the lobby shop before and after the service. Arrive at 10:30, and stay afterwards till closing, usually around 1:00 pm. Tear Down It's the basic law: what goes up must come down. Put away the tables, signs, altar, etc. and help with general clean-up after Circle. This is the perfect volunteer opportunity if you're not a morning person and can't possibly make it to Circle before 11:00. From 12:00 till closing, usually about 12:45/1:00.
Special Event Volunteers From time to time, we need help with other special events, usually with set-up and tear down. Ticket prices are always comped for volunteers, and we try to make sure that you have as much time to enjoy the event as you've put into making it happen. This is a great way to attend one of our events if you're new to the Circle, because it seems so much easier to get to know folks while you're working alongside them, and when you have an official reason to say 'hi'. Many long-time folks like it for the same reason: even more time to spend with great people we love!
Children's Circle and Youth Circle The Children's and Youth Circles at the Sunday gathering are always interested in hearing from people who are passionate about working with young folks. Whether you're interested in coming as a speaker or bringing a special craft or topic, or just reading a story and hanging out, new volunteers are especially welcomed. We recognize that this volunteer work is a particularly strong offering, because it requires you to step away from the main service at Circle in order to facilitate a service for our younger members. You can come just once, once a month, or as often as you like if it works out with our Coordinators.
Workshops and Community Gatherings If you have a workshop idea, or the desire to create an event or re-curring community gathering, you're welcome to submit a proposal to Jai Medina at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
